KAMPUNG AYER PROBOSCIS MONKEY TOUR

A combination of Kampong Ayer house visit and Proboscis Monkey river safari on a covered water taxi boat.   This is the great way to explore our Kampong Ayer lifestyle, culture, heritage and nature in Brunei.  Have a chat with the local villagers while enjoying the delicious traditional home made cakes, biscuits and viewing inside the house.

You will then proceed for the Proboscis monkey river safari. Brunei has the largest population of Proboscis Monkey in the wild. Our pristine primary tropical mangrove forest provides sufficient food for the proboscis monkey and other wild animals. HALF DAY CITY TOUR

This three and a half duration tour is designed for you to the highlighted places whereas your journey starts with a scenic drive through our Blessing city, Bandar Seri Begawan.

First stop will be at the Brunei Museum located on an archaeological site at Kota Batu which focuses on historical and cultural aspects, Islamic arts, Bruneian artefacts and customs, fine arts and the oil industry in Brunei Darussalam.

After that, we will move to the magnificent looking state mosque in Brunei with its grand shimmering golden domes and beautiful landscape of gardens and fountains named Jame ASR Hassanil Bolkiah mosque. Non-Muslim visitors are allowed to enter but must be in a conservatively dressed up.


Then we proceed to the Istana Nurul Iman that known to be the worlds largest residential palace nowadays owned by His Majesty the current 29th Sultan. You may take photos of its glistening domes tiled with 22 carat of gold leaf from the outside areas.

Next stop is at the Royal Regalia building which stores the collections of royal artefacts such as the gold and silver armoury, jewel-encrusted crowns, a royal chariot, a replica throne as well as the gifts that His Majesty has received. A documentation of constitution of Brunei Darussalam is also displayed. Before we end up the tour, we shall stop at the new local handicrafts market where you can see how the traditional weaving brocade (Jongsarat) are done and you also have the opportunities to buy a with range of local souvenirs and handicrafts at the reasonable prices offered.

TASEK MERIMBUN HERITAGE PARK


Full Day Adventure

Tasek Merimbun is the largest black water lake in Brunei Darussalam. The Park, which was declared an ASEAN National Heritage site in 1984 during the 2nd Ministerial meeting on the Environment, covers a total land area 7,800 hectares. The park is rich in flora fauna, its beautiful and peaceful place to visit.

Your journey start at 8:30hrs by land through beautiful country site while listening to the interpretation that is accompanies you. Upon arrival the park, you will register at the Park head quarter, explore the exhibition centre where display many species fauna that found in the park.

Than proceed to the Merimbun botanical and banunih trail for guided nature walk 1.674km. The trail has several species of interesting botanicals, numerous Bornean orchids, and herbs medicine plants use by the Dusun ethnic. Wildlife that you likely to see is the rare red-leaf monkey, snake, birds not forgetting some amazing insect species namely the stick-insect, beetle, millipede, butterfly, termite, and more.


Proceed to boat cruise around the lake to observe a variety of wildlife, including Oriental Darter, Purple Heron, with the latest check-list recorded 68 species of mammals, 148 species of birds, 181 species of moth and butterflies, 54 species of dragon and damsel flies, and numerous other insects species.

You will lead to the Pulau Jelungong (Jelundong Island) an archaeological site which is the oldest jar burial in Brunei.  Dont forget to visit the traditional house which they displays traditional musical instruments, handicrafts and which you may want to purchase some gifts as remembrance to your visit.

Have a test of our Brunei traditional delicacy buffet lunch, before proceeding to shopping mall (1-hours stop). at 1400hrs Kampong Ayer cruise to Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque and to the old palace Istana Darussalam viewed from the Brunei River. Then you will proceed to the Jong Batu, which is one of the historical sites of this country and at the same time, you will be given the details of the sultans palace, the Istana Nurul Iman, which is the largest residential palace in the world. Have you ever wondered how the people of the water village build their boats? Well you will be personally experiencing it as we will take you to Kampong Pekilong Muara to witness the boat making process and finally a Visit to Kampong Ayer cultural heritage galleries.

Nowadays, one of the government efforts for the Water Village people is building the new housing scheme settlement. We will stop behind Pulau Sibongor to explain to you about these new housing scheme settlements which are divided into two Bolkiah A & B. CITY KAMPUNG AYER TOUR

This is a combination of city tour and water village. During this tour you will be brought to several places highlighted destinations including the Brunei Museum where you will be explained about the traditional lifestyle of locals Bruneians. Along the way to proceed to another destination you could experience and took photo images of the capital also passing the several business district areas.

Arrived in the mosque of Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah where you will get to see the interiors of the mosque and take photos from the exterior.

Up next is the largest residential palace in the world namely Istana Nurul Iman located 7 minutes from the capital and if we are lucky we might see the royal families going out of the palace.

Afterwards Royal Regalia is the next destinations where this building representing the life stories of His Majesty. Even displays of the Royal Chariot, Royal carriages, royal crest, and flags of the given title from His Majesty, gift of His Majesty collections and mini interior of the ceremonial hall of Nurul Iman palace.

For the water village tour we will depart from the jetty for the old palace then cruise around the water village area passing several houses. Stopover at the boat making house where you could see hand made boat made traditionally. Later we have our break at our boat driver house for hi-tea. You will visit at one of local market where you could found traditional woven cloth making, delicacies and also souvenirs.

ULU TEMBURONG NATIONAL PARK


MINIMUM 2 ADULTS

Ulu Temburong is Brunei first National park. It has been protected since 1991 and preserved for scientific research and low impact Eco-tourism. Due to its remote location, there are few visitors and the journey itself is an adventure!
It begins with 45-minutes water taxi ride from Bandar Seri Begawan;  waving through a network of narrow mangrove channels into Temburong District and to the small riverside town of Bangar.

From Bangar a vehicle will take you to Batang Duri, about 17 km away, where your will join the Temburong river. From here you will travel upstream through the rapids of the Sungai Temburong in a traditional Iban longboat or Temuai, to the national park. 

If the water level is low the guests are expected to get out and help to push the boat up the shallow rapids. Having signed in at the entrance to the Park you can explore several kilometres of wooden  boardwalks through superb primary rainforest. 

There is a 65-metre long and 80 metres high canopy walkway which guests can climb to get a closer look at life in the treetops with spectacular views of the surrounding area. Lunch will be provided at the riverside. We will proceed for a swim at a waterfall (if water level permitting) or else we will take a boat ride down stream and return to Bandar Seri Begawan.

MANGROVE NIGHT SAFARI

Discover the hidden treasures of Sungai Brunei mangrove flora and fauna through this leisurely cruise in an open traditional boat. You will be fascinated by the hundreds glowing fireflies which lighten up the mangrove trees that reminds us on Christmas day. The Proboscis Monkey (the largest monkey in the world) is bound to be seen by you. By using the search light, you will be screening through the mangrove for nocturnal wild animals such as the flying fox, snake and many more. The two species of crocodiles which are the freshwater and saltwater crocodile are resident to Sungai Brunei swimming patiently hunting for their potential preys. Their eyes will glow red when it shines by the torch.

At 20:00 hours will precede for our delicious local Brunei dinner at Kampong Ayer restaurant. Enjoy the scenic views of Bandar Seri Begawan with the lighting up of the Sultans Palace, Istana Nurul Iman. The tour will end at 21:00 hours.

PROBOSCIS MONKEY TOUR

This popular tour consists of a leisurely cruise through the mangroves in search of the wild Proboscis Monkey which arguably the largest monkey on earth, which are found only in Borneo. Before entering the mangrove forest we will pass the famous Kampong Ayer and Sultans Palace (Istana Nurul Iman).


Only the experience local nature guide will assure you to see and understand the habitat and ecology of this elusive creature, which has excited the curiosity of visitors to Borneo since colonial times. The pendulous pink noses and potbellies of the adult males reminded locals of Europeans, and this gave them their local name of Orang Belanda, or Ducthman. In Brunei we call them, Bangkatan.

Explanations on Nipah palm and Mangrove forest will be given and an opportunity to witness other wildlife in the area.Great White Egrets and King Fishers are commonly seen. We may be lucky enough to encounter a Salt-water Crocodile or Monitor lizard. Other mammals include flying foxes, and long tail macaques.
